Ransomware in the Automotive Industry

Abstract

As a result of complexity and integration of the automotive system and of the growing vehicle autonomy, ransomware attacks have become a growing threat in the automotive industry. Therefore, this paper assesses the evolution of ransomware and its main effects on the automotive systems and analyses specific case studies in order to highlight the risks related to the automotive supply chain. This paper also refers to the current cybersecurity standards and measures and to cybersecurity compliance with the purpose of laying the foundation for a solid cybersecurity practice.
