Role-Based Secure Telehealth in IoMT Ecosystems: Design Insights from NeuroPredict Platform
Abstract
This paper presents NeuroPredict, a modular cloud–edge platform designed for secure and scalable telehealth monitoring of the neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and Multiple Sclerosis (MS), with a focus on the implemented security measures. The platform integrates IoMT devices, validated clinical questionnaires, and role-specific dashboards for patients, caregivers, and physicians. Its novelty lies in a multi-layered security framework that incorporates advanced encryption, token-based authentication, and dynamic session keys. This approach utilizes short-lived credentials to mitigate the risks of replay and hijacking attacks. The role-based access control enforces the least-privileged authorization. By combining hybrid edge-cloud analytics with strong security and usability, the NeuroPredict platform advances IoMT-based monitoring for the management of the neurodegenerative diseases.
