Integrating OSINT in Penetration Testing
Abstract
This article discusses the integration of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) with penetration testing in cybersecurity, highlighting a strategic shift towards using publicly available information in order to strengthen digital defenses. It emphasizes the role of OSINT in improving the reconnaissance phase of penetration testing, leading to the creation of a holistic security framework. The systematic collection and analysis of data through OSINT, in combination with automation tools like Maltego and Shodan, boosts the efficiency and depth of security assessments. This paper also touches on ethical considerations and the transformation of raw data into actionable intelligence, demonstrating OSINT’s vital role in modern cybersecurity practices.
